New Logo | @wykle_aesthetic
Graphic design is one of those skills that everyone thinks is easy until they try it. There is such an art to taking a thought, an idea, or a brand and finding a way to encapsulate that into one image or, in my case, a logo.
I’m drawn to minimalist design especially in branding. I have entire Pinterest boards dedicated to simple clean logos, color schemes, and brand mock-ups. I’ve tried to add scripted fonts, or images, etc. to my designs, but I’m never convinced that I’m going to be satisfied with it for the long haul.
Enter my friend, Rachel. I needed some product/marketing materials and I asked her to model for me. We started talking about her graphic design degree (she’s graduating in a few weeks) and I asked her to send me a link to some of the projects she has done.
I was so impressed with her designs that I asked her to come up with a new logo for me. The first draft she sent (based on some sketches and input on what I was envisioning) was beautiful, but her recommendation was that it wasn’t clear enough as a brand (and she was correct). She asked me what direction I wanted to go moving forward and I tried to come up with some things on my own to suggest, but I could never settle on anything. In the end, I told her I trusted her and to design what she felt was fitting.
The end result was exactly what I was looking for: classic, minimal, and has a feminine touch. It’s so beautifully simple. I am confident that Rachel is going to have a strong career ahead of her and I’m honored to be in on the ground floor.
