2021. New Year. New Studio. New Hope.
2020. In my opinion, that can be a sentence all by itself. It really doesn’t need much explanation. I think the entire human race is sighing in relief today as we prepare to bring in a new year. If feels like a tiny ray of hope is peeking through the dark cave that has been 2020.
For me personally, 2020 brought some very significant changes. Looking back, I know that God has used and will continue to use these for my good, but some changes have been pretty difficult to bear. The end of this year has left me feeling lost, hurt, insecure, and completely unsure of where to turn next. I have had many days where my prayer has simply been “fix it, Lord.”
The truth that most of us recognize, but need to be reminded of often, is that we are not in control of our lives. When life is going good, we are lulled into a false sense of control and then when things change, all of a sudden, we feel out of control. But that is just that…a feeling. We’ve never been in control. All of our lives are in God’s hands, whether we acknowledge it or not. For some, that’s a truth to fight with, for others, that’s a source of immense comfort. I choose to rest in the comfort of God’s sovereignty in my life.
It’s a scary time in the world to be launching a new business. To hope for a livelihood from something that is a “non-essential” service in a time of such turmoil in our nation may not seem like the wisest of decisions, but I am trusting in the ONE who sees the end from the beginning.
As scary as it is to say, 2021 is the year photography will be come my full-time job. God has allowed me to open a small studio space where I will be able to offer studio sessions, consultations, and in person sales. I am so excited to show you my space and to share with you products that I truly believe will be family heirlooms for generations to come. If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that life is short. We need to stop relegating our memories to a disc, or a thumb drive. I want 2021 to become the year you (and me) choose to invest in memories and get your portraits on the wall! Will you let me help you?
